DREAMS CAN COME TRUE: ALEJANDRO VALVERDE – WORLD CHAMPION

At 38 years old, the man from Murcia won his first rainbow jersey in Innsbruck. A dream come true.

Immediately after becoming World Champion, Alejandro Valverde’s first comments were “Being World Champion was my dream for me.” And where there’s a will there’s a way, because the man from Murcia has won six medals in the world cycling championships and countless great international performances. And he has achieved his greatest triumph at 38 years old, at the peak of his athletic maturity.

Valverde’s triumph was not only an individual one – it was a team effort by the elite Spanish national team in the tough race in Innsbruck. Nevertheless, nobody can detract from the great merit of his achievement in the final sprint, which placed us all on the edge of our seats, in which he had no rival. The Murcian cyclist was effusive in his gratitude for the team’s efforts: “I must thank the National Team for its efforts, as it has been fantastic. I was able to measure the distance in the sprint quite well, and in the end I was able to succeed.”

Alejandro Valverde’s victory in the Cycling World Championships in Austria and the great performance of the entire Spanish team has been a great honour and a great pleasure for the entire Inverse team. In 2010, Inverse was entrusted with the responsibility of outfitting all the sections of the Spanish cycling team in world championships, and the Spanish Olympic cycling team at the Olympic Games in London in 2012.

Inverse is offering all cycling fans a replica of the 2018 Spanish cycling team’s jersey and bib shorts, without the logos of the commercial sponsors.
